This project was concerned with the redevelopment of the historical centre in Črnomelj. Medieval towns are often described as unique, picturesque and visually memorising spaces. When they are recognised as cultural heritage, it is important to plan their redevelopment with respect to historical conservation and restoration. Our main purpose was to suggest spatial solutions, that emphasise the existing qualities of the space without damaging the historical image of the town. Additionally, our design concept was done in a more minimalist manner. The key feature of the design proposal was to visually and topographically unify town centre and private urban gardens, which are nowadays located on banks of the rivers Lahinja and Dobličica. The existing gardens are ruining the view on the river banks, usurp public riparian area, cause soil pollution and initiate erosion processes on the banks. Gardens are for these reasons moved to the elevation of the town. This project was concerned with the redevelopment of the historical centre in Črnomelj.
